Tara Geer: Carrying Silence

August 3 - September 3, 2013

August 3 – September 3, 2013

Glenn Horowitz Bookseller is pleased to announce Carrying Silence, the first East Coast solo exhibition of drawings by artist Tara Geer, opening Saturday, August 3, and on view through September 3, 2013. A reception for the artist will be held on August 3, 2013, from 6-8pm.

The works on view are a series of recent charcoal, pastel, pencil, and chalk drawings, ranging from wall-sized flower “portraits” to sketchbook-scale, intricate compositions. They balance bold explanatory line with frenetic erasure or scrawl, and be they spindly or sure, dissolved or obtuse, Tara’s marks are inarguably alive.

Tara Geer: Carrying Silence, the accompanying publication, will feature texts by acclaimed writers André Gregory and Rachel Cohen. The book will be available August 3rd in an edition of 250: 200 in wrappers; 50 in cloth, signed by both authors and artist, 5 of which are slipcased with an original artwork.
