Jameson Ellis: Death in Midsummer

May 28th - June 19th, 2011

John McWhinnie @ Glenn Horowitz Bookseller is pleased to announce a new exhibition of works on paper by Jameson Ellis. Entitled Death in Midsummer, the exhibition will run from the 28th of May through the 19th of June 2011. Inspired by the tragic short story Death in Midsummer by Yukio Mishima, Ellis exercises control in creation while considering the sweet emptiness in destruction. His characteristic rendering of fluid gradations are now broken, barricaded, blocked out, and separated. As minimal abstractions of traditional Japanese wood block prints, the work evokes the drama of Hokusai’s Great Wave.
